Are the markets crashing?
I mean proper crashing. Pensions taken a big hit already.
Can we look forward to lots of traders swan diving off tall buildings and should I start stocking up on tinned food?

Re: Are the markets crashing?
Your pension is in trouble (again)

"The more than 5 million workers who every month pay into a stock market-based pension from their salary are worst hit. At retirement, they simply get back what they have paid in plus any investment returns. The FTSE 100 index has slumped by a fifth since hitting an all-time high of 7122 on 27 April 2015, which means pension pots have shrivelled.

The only good news is that your pension is unlikely to be 100% invested in the FTSE 100. A typical workplace pension fund spreads investments across a range of assets, such as bonds and property, and they have not all fared as badly as stocks.

For example, the mainstream shares-based fund run by Legal & General for lots of employers has seen losses of around 12%-13% since April. But pension investors will also have some of their money in the bond portfolio, where losses are just 1%-2%, while the cash element will have gone up, albeit only slightly. This means that overall, workers will have lost around 7%-8% of their pension pot since April – bad news, but not as catastrophic as the headlines suggest."

Re: Are the markets crashing?
The money the Federal Bank printed for years on end buying up US government debt has created a speculative bubble and hasn't created enough productive jobs, P'lite. Now it's gonna go "wallop!".

Going in July.

Held off changing anything up over last few months although have paid accommodation already thankfully.

Re: Are the markets crashing?
Gbp/dollar rate is unlikely to improve much in the near future. Carney all but ruled out any rate rise in the UK for at least six months in a speech publicised yesterday. On most meaningful measures the US economy is outperforming the UK and the Fed remains the more likely to raise interest rates, although I doubt they will again any time soon given recent economic data.

Remember a few GOOD Time when we had over 2 Bucks to a pound (have also been when it was 1.35) .... but on the numerous times I have been going since 1988 I reckon 1.60 is probably a average...

THIS IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OBVIOUSLY AND NOT SOME CUNTY CITY SPOT DEALER SPECIALISING IN USD/GBP
